What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who supports a birthing person during pregnancy, labor, delivery and beyond. The essential role of the doula is to provide education, training, advocacy and support through physical, emotional and informational support to the birth person and their family.
Why Choose a Doula?
Studies have shown that having a doula decreases cesarean rates, shortens labor, decreases medical interventions and increases a more positive childbirth experience by having doula involvement. Studies have also shown that both mothers and babies who have continuous labor support provided by a doula are statistically more likely to have better outcomes and decrease risks involved.
